How long have you been with miLEAD?

I joined miLEAD in March 2024, so it has been over 1.5 years.

What is the focus of your research?

My work focuses on using transgenic mice, along with molecular and behavioral approaches, to uncover the molecular mechanisms that drive anxiety and cognitive impairments following severe illness.

What are your current career goals?

I’m interested in both management consulting and research & development. I’m passionate about the business side of science and hope to transition into either a consulting role or a scientist role.

What roles have you played on projects?

I have primarily served as a Consultant doing both primary and secondary research. I was recently promoted to Project Manager, which I am super excited about!

What led you to seek out miLEAD?

I completed the Biomedical Innovation & Entrepreneurship Certificate Program, which allowed me to take courses through the Ross School of Business and the Center for Entrepreneurship. Through this program, I learned about drug commercialization, FDA regulations, and intellectual property. This experience made me eager to gain more hands-on exposure and apply what I had learned, leading me to seek out miLEAD as the perfect opportunity to do so!

Since joining miLEAD, what skills have you been able to develop?

I have significantly strengthened my communication skills and my ability to quickly digest large amounts of information. At first, conducting secondary research on a new topic was daunting, but the process, along with my team members, taught me how to synthesize complex information and communicate it concisely to the clients. I also learned how to create visually compelling slides, which I’ve really enjoyed. Effective slide design is a powerful way to convey messages and can reflect your professionalism, so learning new tips in this area has been very fun and beneficial!

What has been one of your most rewarding experiences thus far working with miLEAD?

A highlight of my time with miLEAD has been taking advantage of the exceptional consulting preparation resources. Over the past year, I’ve worked with several casing partners and have greatly improved my casing skills through consistent practice with other miLEAD members, which has been very rewarding. I’ve been able to apply the critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills I developed to successfully complete interviews with multiple consulting firms, which has further confirmed my interest in pursuing this career path. I’m also extremely grateful for the casing workshops miLEAD has organized; they’ve been invaluable in helping me prepare effectively for interviews!
