Consultant Spotlight - February 2026
How long have you been with miLEAD?
Since October 2024, so about 1.5 years!
What is the focus of your research?
I work at the intersection between two exciting fields: cancer metabolism and tumor immunology! More specifically, my research focuses on studying how lipids in the colon tumor microenvironment modulate immune responses.
What are your current career goals?
I am still debating between staying in academia or exploring non-academic career paths. I am really passionate about biomedical research, so I would love to still engage with science whether that is as a postdoctoral researcher, a research scientist at a biotech/pharma company, or as a consultant.
What roles have you played on projects?
I have served as a consultant on two projects, where I conducted both primary and secondary research. I was recently promoted to project manager and I am very excited to lead a project soon!
What led you to seek out miLEAD?
When I started graduate school, I wanted to explore non-traditional career paths and became very interested in the intersection between business and science. Joining miLEAD was a great opportunity to try the consulting path and work directly with companies across diverse industries.
Since joining miLEAD, what skills have you been able to develop?
miLEAD helped me to become more confident in my communication, time management, and problem-solving skills. I learned the importance of clear presentation, by designing engaging slides and directly communicating my findings. This has directly translated to my PhD work, where I now place greater emphasis on making my research more digestible to my audience.
What has been one of your most rewarding experiences thus far working with miLEAD?
Outside of learning how to consult, I have really enjoyed meeting and working on teams with people from diverse fields across different universities. Since joining miLEAD, I have met so many amazing people, and I'm grateful for the community that miLEAD creates. I also appreciate the career development workshops and the resources they make available, especially the industry career talks!
