Consultant Spotlight - September 2026

How long have you been with miLEAD? 

I’ve been a part of miLEAD since the spring of 2024!

What is the focus of your research?

My research has dual focuses. For one project, I investigate mucus production and secretion in the mouse colon. For the other, I research aging and stress resistance in the nematode C. elegans.

What are your current career goals?

I plan to join a life sciences consulting firm as a consultant once I graduate.

What roles have you played on projects? 

So far, I’ve completed 5 projects. I was a consultant for 3 projects, a project manager for 1 project, and was an advisor for my most recent project.

What led you to seek out miLEAD?

I applied to and joined miLEAD because I was interested in seeing what career options are available outside of academia. When I started my degree, I was very unsure of my career goals, so I wanted to gain exposure to as many trajectories as possible in order to find the career that best fits my interests. miLEAD helped me identify that I wanted to pursue a career in life sciences consulting.

Since joining miLEAD, what skills have you been able to develop?

Since joining miLEAD, I have developed the ability to craft slides for a business audience versus a science audience. They are two very different formats, and it was hard to adjust my approach to making presentations. However, with the help of my wonderful miLEAD peers, I have been able to really develop that skill!

What has been one of your most rewarding experiences thus far working with miLEAD? 

The most rewarding experience working with miLEAD has been all the new opportunities! Between the career talks, workshops, the professional development grant, and social events, I was able to expand my professional network. Through social events and working on projects, I met wonderful friends who are a great support system and push me to do my very best!
