How long have you been with miLEAD?

I joined miLEAD in April 2020, so it's been about 6 months.

What is the focus of your research?

I study human intestinal development using organoids derived from stem cells. The goal of my research is to develop an improved organoid system that more closely resembles the native human intestine and to use organoids to study the outermost layer of the intestine, the serosal mesothelium.

What are your career goals?

I have decided that I don’t want to pursue academia after I finish my PhD, but I am currently still deciding whether I want to continue scientific research in industry or take a less traditional route like consulting or science writing.

What roles have you played on projects?

So far, I have worked as a consultant on two projects focused on market research and competitive landscape analysis. I am looking forward to working as a project manager on future projects!

What led you so seek out milead?

I joined miLEAD to determine whether I am interested in a career in consulting and to develop skills and experiences that will make me a strong candidate for non-academic careers.

Since joining miLEAD, what skills have you been able to develop?

I have learned so much about the business side of science and what it takes to bring a small startup company to market. I have also gained confidence in presenting to teammates and clients.

What has been one of your most rewarding experiences thus far working with miLEAD?

The feedback from clients has been really rewarding! It’s great to know that the research we’ve done has helped our clients make informed decisions.
