Amy Cell hosts March's Professional Development Event with a talk on project management

On Thursday, March 22nd, miLEAD welcomed recurring guest speaker Amy Cell to host the March Professional Development Event by giving a talk titled “Project management and consulting: training and skills needed to succeed in these roles.” Amy’s talk provided perspective on how to be a successful project manager with insights into how to encourage cohesive teamwork, how to best interface with clients, and what truly goes into creating a strong team. Once again, Amy’s talk was beyond our expectations and we look forward to hopefully having her return to host another event in the near future.

Amy Cell currently leads her own talent consulting agency, Amy Cell Talent, based in Ann Arbor, and has extensive experience as a consultant, project manager, and leader. Prior to launching her practice in March of 2015, Cell was the Senior Vice President of Talent Enhancement for the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. She directed talent programs for the state of Michigan where she developed and implemented many innovative programs including a job portal called Pure Michigan Talent Connect; a German model apprenticeship program; a career counseling program for high school students, and Community Ventures, which provides a career pathway out of poverty. While at Ann Arbor SPARK, Cell played a similar role where she developed and managed programs to help the technology community attract and retain critical talent. Additional career stops in the talent space include the University of Michigan, Ford Motor Company, Stanford Research Institute and Applied Biosystems. She also worked briefly as a CPA for Plante & Moran before realizing that she liked people more than numbers. Amy holds a Masters in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
